On Sunday February 11, 2024, an exceptional event took place: the awakening of our new baroque organ. A very large crowd attended as well as the organ builder Kristian Wegscheider accompanied by François Uys his accomplice as well as members of the Dresden team who built the organ: Matthias Weibach and Markus Zoitl who ensured the organ harmonization.
The ceremony began with the blessing of the organ carried out by Monseigneur Aillet, Bishop of Bayonne who then proceeded with the ritual of awakening the organ assisted to do this by Thomas Ospital “L’enfant du Pays” now an international concert artist and organist of the grand organ of the Saint-Eustache church in Paris.
